Shipping first class to Europe or Mexico had to be completed by Dec. 8 to arrive by Christmas.

Kim Hammonds of Ravenna took time out of her lunch break to send two large boxes to her boys in Florida and North Carolina. She said she waited to send the packages until she got paid.

“I don’t know if it’ll get there on time, but my boys are older so they’ll understand,” said Hammonds. “If they don’t get there on the day, they’ll probably get it the day after. It’ll prolong the Christmas holiday.”

Sarah Honsinger said she was confident her Cleveland-bound package would arrive on time because all mail coming out of Warren goes through Cleveland. She also was shipping a package to a friend in Virginia.

“I believe they’ll get there on time because they don’t have too far to go,” said Honsinger. She said a few years ago, she tried to ship a holiday package to her brother, who was stationed in Iraq at the time. Shipping deadlines to military outfits are different than those for national packages and can be found on the USPS website.

“It took a month to get there,” said Honsinger. “Needless to say, the Christmas cookies were a little stale.”
